#1: Surface Cleaning
Let’s start by cleaning the surface where we will lay the block wall.

#4: Laying the First Row of Blocks

Using a plumb line
It is recommended to use a plumb line to assemble the blocks, not a bubble level which is much less accurate!
To use the plumb line correctly, you will need to take the plumb from one side and adhere to that side throughout the assembly.
#5: Setting Up Rows of Blocks
We define the lines of blocks, sealing them with:
- A vertical joint – this is made with sealing mortar;
- A horizontal joint: the mortar can be spread over the entire surface of the block, or by “pudding”
The pudding
The principle of “pudding” is to place a “texture” of mortar at both ends of the block.
With such a technique, the block does not make contact over its entire surface.
The advantage of pudding is threefold:
- Facilitates the laying of the block, which is easier to “adjust”;
- Prevents moisture problems (as there is less contact surface);
- Preserves your mortar
The following line assembly is executed in joints. It should be noted, however, that the “pudding” technique is a “mason” technique, which is not used by everyone, as it is not unanimous. staggered.
To cross the joints, a half-block is placed at each end.
Once the wall is assembled, it remains to finish it, as in its raw state, the block wall is not beautiful!
